Maybe this is a disingenuous question! Actually it’s not about millionaires, it’s about the average business owner and their mindset. But as today is National Millionaires Day (who knew!) it seemed like a good time to post! Especially as one of the tenets of National Millionaires Day is to think, plan and act like a millionaire as a step towards having a better lifestyle. It’s a truism that if you think you can do something, then you can. Equally, if you think you can’t, then you can’t.
A part of thinking that you can is making a plan. It could be a simple list of those things you are going to do to move yourself or the business forward. It could be a more complex plan. The point about having a plan is that you can then see the way forward, and hold yourself to account for achieving the milestones.
So I would like to encourage all of my clients to believe in themselves as future millionaires – even if right now they haven’t got the lifestyle they want, or their business is underperforming. Of course having self-belief is nothing without a way to change the status quo. Which is where we, as your accountants come in. Numbers are the language of business and we are the numbers experts. We can translate those numbers and help show you where your business is underperforming and help you work to improve things … and actually achieve. And who knows, maybe one day you’ll be celebrating National Millionaires Day as an actual millionaire and not a broke one!
